Feeds

A few months ago I discovered the joy of feed aggregators. I am not a techno wiz, nor am I a huge geek, but the idea that I can go to one place and read all my regular blogs is exciting to me. This made Josh giggle because, being a software engineer, he has known about feed aggregators for years and years and I am almost 25 years old and only now discovering ways to make my life easier.

My first aggregator was Newgator.com, recommended by a friend. And it worked fine. Except that it really, really slows my browser down, both at work and at home. I have no idea why. Like I said, I’m not a wiz at this stuff. So today was a slow day at work, so I finally did twenty-seconds of research and decided it was time to switch to a new aggregator. I switched to Google Reader. I don’t love the idea of this, because I have a lot of stuff on Google servers (hundreds of photos and hundreds of posts from an old blog, not to mention thousand of emails) and I don’t completely trust. In fact, I’ve been thinking of moving all my stuff off Google, and I started with this blog. (Moved from blogspot to wordpress and haven’t looked back since.) Nonetheless, I can already tell that the Google Reader runs a lot faster than Newsgator. I don’t have to sit there and wait  every time I want to add a feed. It’s nice so I guess I’ll stick with it for awhile, until I have another slow day at work.

Nappy headedness.

Get over it, people!

That’s my opinion. I know Mom and I disagree on this. She thinks people need to start being “nicer.” I say if you don’t like what this guy has to say, then change the channel. I don’t agree with the KKK so I don’t listen to them. I don’t agree with Christian Fundamentalists so I don’t read about them. It’s that simple. Take a little responsibility, stop taking things so friggin’ personally, and move on with your life. We’ve wasted lots of good hours talking about this ridiculous story. There’s also a war going on, and the FBI recently abused its privileges, and there is yet another scandal brewing the administration that is supposed to be governing our country and protecting us. How about we focus on the important stuff? I’m appalled. (And don’t even get me started on Jesse Jackson.)

Edit: Here’s a great piece on this story. What this guy says!
