This is when I’m supposed to think about goals

December 30, 2006

I’m tired of resolutions because they are often a load of crap. Instead, here are a few things I’m “thinking about” working on in the next 12 months. No pressure, damnit.

  • I’d like to expand my food palate. A few days ago I made tilapia and managed to eat a whole piece. I’d like to try eating more fish, maybe eventually once a week since it’s so healthy. Maybe I might also start to pretend to like onions, too.
  • I think I’m going to do the Pike’s Peak Ascent again, in August, mostly because I’m a lunatic, but also because even though I slacked off, I did get in good shape and now I have a dog to train with, too. I’d also like to start swimming more often, to get ready for our SCUBA trip in June and because it’s good exercise that doesn’t hurt my knees.
  • Speaking of Roland, by the end of next year, I’d like him to be well on his way to becoming a therapy dog. I’d like him to pass his Canine Good Citizenship test sometime next year, too. The trainer said this would probably be possible after the Beginner’s Class, which starts in January.
  • Regarding nursing school, since I have no earthly clue how hard it’s going to be, I am not prepared to set a GPA goal. But I can say that I’d like to stay out of the politics and really focus on why I’m there: to get my license and start a career. I love to gossip so this will be kind of difficult, but I’m hoping two years in Corporate America have taught me a few lessons about prioritizing rumors.
  • I’d like to improve my bowling score. Tonight I bowled a 56 and then a 73. I think I can beat that in 2007.

There are probably other things like being a good person who’s less judgemental and more generous and all that hippie crap, but for now I’ll just say I’m happy with myself and my life. Except that damn bowling score…

Your self-esteem is definitely in tact, which is good! SORRY some of us are still working on “…all that hippie crap!”
